Functional Pottery Foundations is a free 6-week Mentor Monday series designed to help members build confidence with handbuilding while creating beautiful, functional pottery. Each week features one functional project and a new set of transferable pottery skills.

Bring your own clay each week, and if you have your own basic pottery tools, please bring them. A limited number of studio tool kits are available to share.

No registration is required—just come ready to learn! Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Lesson 6 - Lidded Trinket Box

Create a functional lidded trinket box while bringing together the skills you've developed throughout the Functional Pottery Foundations series. You'll learn to measure for a properly fitting lid, create an interior ledge (gallery) to support the lid, add a decorative knob, and complete a beautiful keepsake box you'll be proud to use or give as a gift.

Keep Creating

Congratulations on completing the Functional Pottery Foundations series!

Remember, every experienced potter started with a first project, a little curiosity, and the willingness to keep learning.

The more time you spend in The Clayground, the more your confidence, creativity, and friendships will grow. Don't wait for another class to make something new. Experiment with different forms, explore new glazes, ask questions, share ideas, and enjoy creating alongside fellow Salty Potters.

The Clayground is more than a studio—it's a community. We hope you'll make it part of your weekly routine. Don't be afraid to ask questions, share ideas, and inspire others along the way.

Now... go make something amazing!
